Fall Faves: Faux Fur Vests

I am currently on the lookout to add a new item to my wardrobe: a faux fur vest.  I have to admit that in my quest, there have been a few real fur vests that I have admired, but I can't quite bring myself to spend the money or kill a cute little critter.  So, I have compiled a list of the best options I have found to date.  I seem to be gravitating towards the less bulky versions, my absolute favorite so far being #5.

1. Ella Moss Kennedy Faux Fur Vest - $258
2. Kensie Fur Vest - $88
3. Jack by BB Dakota Janika Vest - $69
4. Sanctuary Natalie Faux Fur Vest - $136
5. Myne Faux Fur Vest - $188

Ode to Black (and Olivia!)

There's nothing I love more than a great black ensemble - it's chic, flattering, and easy to put together!  Black pieces are constantly reinventing themselves in different ways and this season, because of this, it's easy to make a black outfit look anything but blah by utilizing tons of textures and colors.  Nobody seems to have mastered this concept as perfectly as the one and only, Olivia Palermo.

Missed Out

So I recently discovered a pair of booties that I somehow overlooked and didn't include in my fall faves: booties post - and they're my favorites so far.  They're the Narri by Steve Madden and they come in black, brown, olive, and blue - but they'll set you back $229.95 - a little pricey for Madden.

Fall Faves: Elizabeth and James (Again!)

My obsession with all things Elizabeth and James is still in full force - I'm not even close to being able to afford any of their pieces and yet I can't seem to stop browsing online through their fall collection.  My absolute favorites are pictured above.

2. Mena Flats - $239
4. Scuff Boots - $499
6. Stash Wedges - $364

ps: I bought the red Revlon lip stain from my previous post - it's terrible.  Stick with Cover Girl!

Adorable

Rachel Bilson has always been one of my faves - she's super cute but can also be super sexy.  See above: Fashion Week street style versus red carpet formal wear

Fall Faves: Stains

This is probably super surprising - I'm doing a teeny tiny beauty post.  I have never been one to put anything on my lips other than chap stick, but my lips are bare no longer thanks to the lip stains I have recently discovered.  As of now, I only own a pink Cover Girl stain, but I have plans to try out a bright red.

Fall Faves: Wedged Booties

While booties have been in style for quite some time, I haven't run into a pair that made me crazy in love until this season.  I am absolutely head over heels with the simplicity of all three pairs but the best part: they're all staggeringly affordable!

1. Steven by Steve Madden Masen Shoe - $74
2. Sam Edelman Wakefield Shoe - $89
3. RACHEL Rachel Roy Ilanor - $149
4. Aldo Sandidge - $120
5. Steve Madden Dessertt - $109.95
6. Kelsi Dagger Fortune - $120

Inspiring Outerwear

Two outerwear trends that I have been lusting after for what seems like forever: military and leopard.  The search continues because I just can't seem to find the perfect versions to add to my own closet.

Fall Faves: Blazers

So I was browsing Macy's and Shopbop and immediately discovered that blazers are not only still going super strong but are better than ever this fall.  I especially love the gray one because the hood/lining can be worn on its own as a vest.  From the top: INC and second two are Elizabeth & James

i'd kill for it

I'm currently crazy-obsessed with Elizabeth & James' Fall 2010 line. Everything is totally and completely out of my price range, but I may just have to save up for the jacket in the last photo. It's a silk windbreaker with a removable gold vest - a fun way to liven up what will almost certainly be a gloomy winter. All of these are available at Nordstrom.

new fave

#1 - I recently realized that I really want a pair of leather shorts or a leather skirt. I'm worried it's too late to find either any more. I feel like the skirt, though, would transition much more seamlessly into fall. (photo from StockholmStreetStyle)

#2 - Isabelle's blog, Style With Isabelle, which can be accessed through StockholmStreetStyle, is one of my new favorites. She almost always has similar style interests to me.

#3 - Isabelle's most recent outfit. I love this pattern and wish it came in skirt form.

seeing double

Still wishing you'd been able to invest in the fabulous Miu Miu maryjanes from Spring 2010? Worry no more - check out Forever21, which now has their own version of the style. The flower pattern is much more Miu Miu reminiscent, but the black are bad-ass and basic. And the best part? They're under $26

From all-over encrusted to full-on transparent, clear is making a comeback - and, this time, in ways I am actually considering wearing. From the top - Calvin Klein available on yoox.com, photo from Carolines Mode, photo from Style with Isabelle

denial

I am totally a summer person - I love summer clothes, summer weather, summer activities, summer food and summer drinks. So while most are looking towards fall for their fashion fix, I will continue to ogle summer-colored clothes until the first frost.

summer street style

Both basic summer looks - but oh so different! I'm hoping one of my favorite bloggers, Geri of because i'm addicted, does a DIY of the shirt in the first shot - like she mentioned a few days ago!

distracted

So I haven't been thinking much fashion today because I am distracted by the events of last night. My boyfriend and I were walking our dog (the always adorable Olive) a little before 10pm when a group of three men started approaching us quickly, yelling that they wanted to ask us a question. We started to head in the opposite direction, but as we started to run off one of them started to pull out a gun. My boyfriend heard the click when he cocked it. Luckily, we ran in the right direction towards the busiest, brightest street and they were smart enough not to follow us.

We are both extremely lucky that nothing really bad happened - but I'm still slightly shaken up. When you live in a big city, though, you're bound to be exposed to at least one scary situation - and at least now I'll be more cautious at night.

I did lose a pair of sandals in the run - but they were just flip flops!
