I just wanted to share this photo that I took Saturday night, unfortunately all I had was my phone so I couldn't get very good quality. I was up in North Philadelphia visiting some friends that still go to Temple and we went to a bar in the area that used to be super ghetto, was recently fixed up, but still is filled mostly with locals (not a lot of choices in bar scenes up by Temple). I saw this poster on the wall and couldn't stop cracking up.
It's hard to tell, but take my word for it when I say that this super-ghetto, bad ass looking black guy is labeled below as Hannibal and states that they are trying to remember/honor famous African American leaders.
This was where I said WHAAAT!!?? Hannibal is known to be one of the greatest military leaders of all time, however he was most certainly not black (even if he was he definitely wouldn't look like THAT). This fact is not even so much as disputed. They have thousands of busts of him that depict him as super white and possibly (they aren't sure) even Jewish.
I thought this was absolutely hilarious. Who made this - who allowed this obviously gigantic historic inaccuracy? And even more confusing - who put this up? And why??!! I guess it is, and will forever remain, a mystery.
